Fox Paint by Numbers, Oct 7, 2014

I finished another Paint by Number project. This one measures 16x20 and called Sunlit Fox, by Dimensions. I started this PBN on Sept 15, 2014, so since I also painted other things, I didn't always paint this. So, it takes me about 3 weeks to finish.

Autumn Scene painting, Oct 5, 2014

I painted another one of Jerry Yarnell's lesson. I love the way he combines colors. So serene.
I painted this on 16x20 inches canvas using acrylic paints. It took almost 6 hours to finish this because there were so many details added to make things a lot more interesting.

Happy Fall!!!

Painting a pumpkin, Oct 5, 2014

We went to a small farm on Sunday, the 14th and they had a harvest festival there.
So many people went and did pumpkin patch. We just picked a white big pumpkin instead.

Since I don't like Halloween nor celebrate it, I decided to paint the pumpkin with regular scenes.
Made 4 different scenes from it : lake, mountain, autumn trees and sea with dolphin.
So much fun painting these although it took a longer time for the paint to dry.

September 27, 2014 Sunset Lighthouse Painting

Tomorrow is my brother's Birthday. He loves and decorates his house with sea-theme, including lighthouse he and his wife purchase on their trips. I'm more of a mountain and forest girl, but today I painted Sunset Lighthouse theme to "celebrate" his birthday.

I painted this on 11x.14 inches canvas panel. I was using the paints from Americana acrylic paints: red, white, yellow, blue, green and black.

September 25, 2014 Forest in the Fall painting

I saw a tutorial painting by Ben Saber at youtube and he  made it look sooo easy. So I decided to try it myself. Since I used sta-wet palette, I was able to paint just few minutes a day and closed it up and my paints didn't dry out.
Anyways, the end result of this painting is not even close to the painting done by Ben Saber, but I did the best I could as a novice.

This painting is done on 16x20 stretched canvas. The acrylic colors I used: ivory black, titanium white, diox. purple dark, diox. purple light, cadmium yellow medium, cadmium red medium, cadmium orange, burnt umber, cobalt blue, phtalo blue, magenta and payne's grey.

Sept 21, 2014 "Evening Flight" painting

I bought a used painting book by Jerry Yarnell. Since I love sunsets, I chose to paint "Evening Flight". The book has a lot more brighter and vivid colors, but I like a bit more subtle colors.
Also, the book has a lot of geese flying through. I was too afraid, so I painted 2 geese instead.
Oh, and I added a house to compromise all the other geese.

I used 16x20 inches stretched canvas. The paints are acrylic: titanium white, cadmium yellow light, cadmium orange, hooker green, ultramarine blue, burnt sienna, purple and yellow green.

I'm in the middle of painting another paint by numbers big project which I bought from China.
It's been 5 days painting that and I wanted to take a little break to paint something else.
So, I decided to follow online painting by Tim Gagnon called Warm Sunsets.
I love sunsets, so this painting really looks relaxing to me.

I painted this on 11x14 inches stretched canvas, using Cadmium Yellow, Burnt Sienna, Sap Green, Black and White acrylic paints.

I went to the last painting class this Summer at Vine Gogh in Sellwood. When I saw that they are teaching the Asian theme "Bamboo Mountain", I got really excited and became the first to register and that was 3 weeks ago. Finally, tonight I went to the class and enjoyed it so much.

Here is the result of the class. It's on stretched canvas 16x20 inches.

As soon as I finished my first PBN Japanese Garden, I got a bad flu. I stayed home during weekend and also took Monday and Tuesday off from work to get better. I started my second PBN on Aug 16, right after I finished my PBN Japanese Garden and I finished this in 3 days (4 days including the 16th).

The result is so beautiful. I'm so glad I chose this one.

Paint By Number: Japanese Garden, Aug 16,14

I accidentally found out about "Paint by Numbers" when I was searching for acrylic paints online.
I have never heard of PBN before and was very curious of it. It sounded like what I love to do, tedious projects so I decided to buy and give it a try. The one I got is called "Japanese Garden".
This PBN measures 16x20" and the kit includes the art board with printed numbers and alphabets, an instruction pamphlet, a brush and small jars of paints. We also have to do a lot of mixing with these paints. A lot of people don't like mixing them but I don't mind it.

I started this on August 10, 2014 and immediately hooked on it. I diligently painted every night for a couple of hours and even when I had even half an hour in the mornings.
I finished this project on August  16 ,2014 ( 6  days).

Here are the photos of my first PBN journey:

Aug 7, 14 Paint Nite : Tropical Sunset Painting

I took another painting class from Paint Nite again tonight and painted "Tropical Sunset" painting.
I wanted to learn how to blend soft colors together and make it a beautiful sunset colors.
Plus I wanted to do palm trees and ofcourse because I love silhouette painting.

This painting uses black, white,  yellow, red and blue acrylic paints on 16x20 inches canvas.

Small Fry Tapestry, August 7, 2014

I found this pattern last year, designed by my favorite bead pattern designer, Sigrid Wynne-Evans and fell in love with this tapestry. I love animals, especially wild animals and this tapestry consists of a fawn and two bear cubs as friends.

I started this tapestry on March 3, 2014 and finished on August 7,2014  (a bit over 5 months).
It consists of 48 colors using Delica 11/0 beads, total of  32, 526 beads with Peyote stitch.
It measures 11.7 x 9.3 inches (30 x 23.6 cm).

Aug 2, 2014 Sunset Horse Painting

I went to South Oregon again for the 2nd time this Summer. It was a great feeling being in the farm and saw many beautiful animals. On the second day, I painted "Sunset Horse", which was modeled by a horse there named Angel. I miss being there again and can't wait until the end of August to be there.

This is acrylic painting on 9x12 inches canvas panel. I used black, white and cobalt blue colors.

2nd Dragonfly painting (with Lotus), July 30, 2014

I didn't like how my first dragonfly painting looked like because it looked like a common blue insect from the angle of his body.

So, I decided to paint another one that looks like real dragonfly reaching a lotus flower.

I used acrylic paints on 9x12 inches canvas panel.

July 25, 2014 Dragonfly Painting

I tried to paint dragonfly, which is one of the painting class offered. I was interested in taking the class, but it's too far for me. So I decided to save the money and tried it myself. It was kind of challenging mixing colors but turned out ok.

I used black, white, yellow, burnt sienna (brown) acrylic paints for this painting and use 9x12 inches canvas panel.

July 23, 2014 "Mystic Cherry Blossom" painting class

I took the second Paint Nite class this week. I didn't plan to have 2 classes in a week, but I fell in love with this painting from beginning and it was sold out too quickly after I hesitated. Then one day, the class became available again for 2 more spots (someone probably cancelled), so I registered the class right away.
I'm so glad I took this week classes despite how tired I am after long day of work. Somehow, taking the classes refreshed me.

This painting uses black, white, red, yellow and blue acrylic paints and it was painted on 16x20 canvas.

July 21, 2014 Paint Nite painting class: Bird's Nest

I took second class from Paint Nite tonight after work with my friend, Lisa.
We learned moderately difficult painting technique with "Bird's Nest" painting.
It was fun and educational although making eggs were much more difficult than it looks.
But, we were able to finish the painting in 2.5 hrs.

We used black, white, blue, red and yellow acrylic paints for this.

My Bird's Nest painting, July 21, 2014
I didn't like how my background looks. I didn't have time to soften the whole background in the class.
So today, I made the streaky yellow on the background disappeared, soften the red on the flower petals and added few more flowers. That way the painting's focus is at the nest instead of distraction of flower petals color.

July 20, 14 Koi Fish

I painted something different today, Koi Fish. I grew up with having koi fish at the indoor-outdoor pool.
When I saw this painting, it reminds me of koi fish pond back home.
I used black, white, red, yellow, and green acrylic paints for this on 9x12 inches canvas panel.

July 19, 2014 Cats Sunset painting with friend together

My friend and I wanted to do painting together ever since we went to painting class a couple of months ago.
She's been wanting to paint "Dogs gaze". So we did that except I changed mine into cats, since I love cats.
We used red, white, yellow, and black acrylic paints for this one.
We had great time and here are our paintings.

July 17, 2014 Sunset Safari Painting

I can't stop painting!! I enjoy it so much I couldn't wait to get home from work to start painting.
Tonight I painted Safari Sunset with elephant on it. The challenge was making the elephant's tails and trunk because I don't have teeny tiny brush to do that. But, it worked fine and at least it ended looking like an elephant.

I used combination of red, yellow, brown and black for this painting on 9x12 canvas panel.

July 15, 2014 Cherry Blossom Moon painting

I decided to make another acrylic painting called Cherry Blossom Moon using 9x12 inches of canvas panel, red, white, black and brown paints to make them. I had great time especially making the cherry blossom petals. Love the silhouette effect and night sky.

7.14.14 First Painting at Home (Love birds)

After taking 5 very fun painting classes, I decided to take a leap of faith and try it myself at home.
I bought a cheap kit with few basic acrylic paints, brushes, desk easel, and canvas panels (canvas on a cardboard). It took me over a week to get rid of my fear.
Today, I did it and painted Love Birds. I saw the picture online and thought I could do it because it's simple enough. I added leaves and snow to make it little bit of "me" instead of just dark branches.

I am happy with the result and most importantly I'm happy because I took a leap and tried something new.

July 3, 2014 Song of the Nightingale Painting

I took another Painting Class. This time from a place called Vine Gogh.
I had a great time as usual with "all ladies" there and sweet older lady next to me, who brought me crackers because I was too serious with my painting..  :)

The painting is called "Song of the Nightingale", kind of oriental-theme.
It was a little bit challenging but that's the reason I'm taking painting classes, to learn all technique of painting as much as I can.

Here it is:
