Goose Painting, Oct 11, 2015

It's been two months since I finished a painting. It has been busy during preparation for my son's going away to college few weeks ago.
I've started coloring  the background a month ago and finally added the goose yesterday.
This painting is based on Brenda Harris' book. I've used 16x20 inches of stretched canvas with acrylic paints.

First Engraving project, Aug 4, 2015

I was given an engraving art set over the weekend and tried it for the first time in my life.
It was fun yet I need to learn more on how to do it as my pressure sometimes a bit too hard and sometimes too light.

Either way, I'll continue to learn and do more fun projects. Here it is the engraving done.
I think it's Elk and it's on 8x10 inches board.

June 21, 2015 Blue Heron Painting

Today I decided to paint from one of my favorite painters, Tim Gagnon's lesson.
I love Blue Heron. For Chinese, heron represents strength, purity, patience, and long life. This is my second effort of painting Heron again. I painted the first one from Brenda Harris' book sometime in January this year but wanted to paint a portrait-like this time.

It was so much fun layering colors over and over so many times to make it looks real and soft feather-like.

This is done on 16x20 inches stretched canvas using acrylic paints.

This painting is done on 16x20 inches of stretched canvas using acrylics.

June 12, 2015 Hawaiian Horizon Painting

I took this painting class done by Vine Gogh. This painting is called Hawaiian Horizon and it's one on 16x20 inches stretched canvas using acrylic paints.

It's been a while since I went to this kind of painting class, probably over a year ago. But it's kind of nice to do something spontaneous once a while, spending Friday night out, painting something pretty.

May 31, 2015 Reminders of the Past painting

This is my third lesson I did on Jerry Yarnell online school.
It's called "Reminders of the Past" on 16x20 inches stretched canvas.
It's using acrylic paints.

I love this lesson because I love old weathered woods and how simple yet serene the background is.

May 31, 2015 Oriental Butterfly Cross Stitch

I wanted to learn how to make cross stitch panel. So on May 3rd, 2015, I purchased a very beginner 3inchx3inch owl cross stitch kit.
I also purchased a 10x10 inches "oriental butterfly" kit and decided to make that as a gift. After learning the owl for few days, I decided to abandon that and started the butterfly one.

Took me 18 days to finish this panel and gave this for a birthday gift.
It was fun but such a time-consuming project since I wanted to finish it quickly.

May 9, 2015 Multnomah Falls painting

Ever since I started painting a year ago, I wanted to paint multnomah falls, the beautiful falls in Oregon.
I then looked at the classes around but none was pretty enough for my taste.

Then I joined Yarnell Online school and finally painted this with a help of google image for reference also. I learned a lot, including how to make my painting looks misty and water splatting using toothbrush.

This is done on 18x24 inches stretched canvas using acrylic paints.

Happy Easter!!!

I've started this Bamboo stained glass panel back in May 2015 or at least I planned it. But I kind of slow down on making it and focused on painting instead. Slowly, I moved forward and finally I finished this Bamboo panel today.
This has about 98 pieces of glass and the size is 11x14 inches.

But, slowly following his lesson, I was able to finish.

Grist Mill painting, February 1, 2015

I've always loved the grist mill buildings. Something about the water wheel around the building and the history of it is very interesting.

Maybe someday I can see working grist mill, grinding grain into flour in person, if such place still exists.

Anyway, I paint this based on the book by Brenda Harris. I painted this on 12x16 inches canvas panel, using acrylic paints.

Chinese Bridge, January 22, 2015

Inspired by the painting book by Dorothy Dent, I painted this and made the regular bridge into Chinese red bridge. I painted this on 12x16 inches canvas panel using acrylic paints, mostly DecoArt Americana paints.

I'm not really happy with this painting but don't know why. Maybe because I like to paint in more muted, pastel colors and somehow this painting uses a lot of bold main colors.

I used 11x14 canvas board with acrylic paints. Surprisingly, this one has a lot more details than I anticipated and took me 7.5 hours to finish.
Surely pretty though and worth every minutes.
